
Judge Cynthia Curtin was appointed to the Stow Municipal Court in May 2025 by Governor Mike DeWine to serve the remainder of the term previously held by Judge Kim Hoover.
Before her judicial appointment, Judge Curtin was a civil litigation attorney with 35 years of experience defending individuals, small businesses, national insurers, and major retailers in complex civil matters in both state and federal courts throughout Ohio. Additionally, she provided national litigation support as part of National Coordinating Counsel teams. Her litigation practice included motor vehicle liability, premises liability, products liability, property damage, workers’ compensation, first- and third-party insurance claims, as well as special investigations, examinations under oath, insurance coverage analysis, settlement negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
Judge Curtin began her legal career with the firm Keller, Scully & Williams in Cleveland. In 2003, she and her late husband founded Curtin & Associates in Akron. In 2009, their firm, which operated under the names Curtin & Curtin, LLP and Curtin Law, LLC, earned certification as a woman-owned law firm through WBENC and NAMWOLF. Judge Curtin managed the firm for two decades before joining Perez Morris in Cleveland in 2023.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University in Bloomington and her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University’s Marshall College of Law. Prior to entering law school, she worked in the banking industry.
Judge Curtin is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Akron Bar Association. During her time in practice, she was also affiliated with the Cleveland Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, WBENC, and NAMWOLF. She is admitted to practice in all Ohio state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
